QuickBooks is used by small business assistance to organize financial bookkeeping. It is Intuit Inc's set of software solutions used for managing payroll, inventory, sales and other needs of small business organization. It is used to monitor expenses, create invoices and reports, track job status and change orders, manage inventory, customers, vendors and employees.
But sometimes you receive several error messages when you open a company file in multi-user mode. You may get an error message like QuickBooks error H202, QuickBooks error H505, etc.
"You're trying to work with a company file located on another computer, and this copy of QuickBooks can't reach the server on that computer. (H202)"
According to Intuit, the error code H202 appears when QuickBooks cannot access the company file located on another computer. The error appears when you open the file in multi-user mode, and when QuickBooks tries to establish a connection to the company file but cannot communicate with the server. There are several reasons for this situation. Such as:
- Damaged or incorrect .nd file
- QuickBooks is unable to obtain the Internet Protocol or the IP address of the system or server hosting the company file.
- The incoming or outgoing communication to the company file is blocked by the security software, for example the Firewall.
- Incorrect hosting configuration settings.
To get rid of the error you need to make sure that all the computers, including the server have been configured correctly. After checking this, you can reestablish the connection. The Hosting setting must be checked.
The Hosting setting can be verified by pressing F2 while QuickBooks is running to display the 'Product Information' window. The 'Local Server Information' block displays the Hosting setting in the lower left corner of the window. If the error persists, you can try to reestablish the connection through TCP/IP settings.
